Post Title: Junior Spatial/Environmental Planner
Duration: 34 - 48 Months (full-time)
Location: Accra, with field missions as required
Deadline: 30th April 2025
Knowledge
- MSC in human/social or physical geography, spatial planning/public policy, environmental sciences/ecology or equivalent programs;
- Familiarity with in-country spatial, environmental, and economic planning system;
- Visualising and analysing spatial data in a GIS such as QGIS;
- Social science data collection methods such as conducting interviews;
- Strong interest in urban green space and urban (in)equalities.
Interest
- An interest in climate change, climate change impacts, and climate change solutions, together with an interest for global South challenges in general;
- Experience in involving stakeholders in research projects, experience in social science methods such as surveys and interviews;
- Interest to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment.
Experience
- Experience in GIS and remote sensing;
- Participation in (international) planning projects;
- Work experience in government agencies is beneficial;
- Work experience with data management is beneficial.
Expected Tasks
- Design and implementation of project methods to develop implementable scenarios of climate adaptation at multiple scales with urban and environmental strategic choices;
- Proof that innovations to planning for climate adaptation to increase resilience of coastal communities and urban development of the coast of Ghana are better.

- Document findings and results for international audience, particularly addressing and accessible to members of the Abidjan (and Nairobi) convention;
- Spatial modelling;
- Excellent level in English, both written and spoken (C1);
- Command of the French language at B1/B2 level for basic oral and written communcation is beneficial.
