Post Title: ITC Representative Project Coordinator Ghana

Knowledge
- MSc degree in urban/regional planning and environmental science/climate adaptation or equivalent;
- Good understanding on the one hand of national spatial planning and development processes and on the other hand national and local climate change impact and adaption processes;
- A network with the relevant actors and connection to these actors at national regional and local scale;
- How to keep the "project ball" rolling in the right direction.
Experience
- Approximately 15 years of work experience in the urban and environmental sector;
- At least 5 years of work experience in interacting with local governments;
- Coordination/management of at least two projects of at least three years each, managing teams between fice to ten people, and bringing these to a successful completion;
- Worked in at least two projects with international partners from the beginning until the end of these projects.
Expected Activities and Responsibilities
Coordination
- Inform and coordinate closely with the ITC project coordinator and ITC administrator (based in the Netherlands) and the equivalent local coordinator and team based in Ghana;
- Participate in regular coordination meetings with the executing partner (UN-Habitat) and the other implementing partners to monitor the project implementation progress;
- Enable the ITC team’s implementation of the project, in full coordination with UN- Habitat, the Ministry of Environment, sub-national stakeholders, and through engagement with diverse partners in coordination with the other project executing partners;
- Represent ITC and the project partners and foster engagement with government, civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and private sectors to implement the project.
Leadership
- Lead the ITC country office team (a team of approximately 5 members) in their contribution to the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting (financial, technical and E&S) on the project, respecting timelines set out by ITC and UN-Habitat;
- Take a preventive approach and identify and mitigate risks to the achievement of the project objectives, in alignment with ITC’s, UN-Habitat’s and the CAF’s environmental and social policies;
- Foster an enabling environment inside and outside the project country team;
- Maintain a healthy work environment without harassment for project staff and partners and work within the standards and principles of the UN charter.
Management
- Initiate and support the organisation of project activities and ensure timely delivery of project outputs;
- Provide regular substantive and financial reports according to CAF, UN-Habitat and ITC requirements;
- Take financial responsibility for ITC project activities in Côte d’Ivoire;
- Support the search and recruitment of qualified national staff and consultants;
- Participate in the ITC annual evaluation system.
Communication
- Maintain excellent relationships with national and local government representatives, stakeholders and with all project partners, through which access to national agencies and data is facilitated;
- Advocate for the work of ITC in reaching the project goals;
- Maintain communication with press and socials on ITC related project activities.
