Vacancies in Ghana

The ITC educates students to be professionals, capable of acquiring knowledge and translating this into practical application for solving real-world problems.  Our mission is to develop capacity, particularly in less developed countries, and to utilize geospatial solutions to deal with national and global problems.  Our vision is that spatial soultions will play an increasingly important role in meeting many of the complex challenges (often wicked problems) such as climate change, population growth and related claims for sufficient and secure food, water, energy, health, land and housing provision.

The project "Improved Resilience of Coastal Communities in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana" started in September 2024.  The primary aim of the project is to strengthen the resilience of small-to-medium coastal settelements in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire by reducing heir vulnerability to climate change.  To do so sustainably and scalably, the project places local development in the context of regional, national and trans-national development and supports coordination and learning across scales.

The project supports the respective countries through their Ministries of Environment (MEST in Ghana and MINEDDTE in Côte d'Ivoire).  It is funded by the Climate Adaption Fund (CAF)  and implemented by UN-HABITAT.  The Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) is an executing partner of the project, together with Habitat for Humanity and the Abidjan Convention.  The Implementation arrangements are shown in Figure 1 below:
